SellMore Privacy Policy
SellMore is a point-of-sale (POS) app for small shops, cafés, and food stalls. It runs in the browser on the merchant's own phone or tablet. This policy explains what SellMore does with your data, including data from your Google Account, and what it never does. SellMore is made by Otter Co and this policy covers the SellMore app at sellmore.id.
1. The short version
- Your sales data lives on your device. SellMore has no sales database on its servers.
- Backups and exports go to your own Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Calendar — not to ours.
- SellMore never sells your data, never uses it for advertising, and never uses Google user data to train AI or machine-learning models.
- You can revoke SellMore's Google access at any time.
2. Data stored on your device
SellMore stores the shop's operating data in the browser's local database (IndexedDB) on the device you use it on. That includes:
- Shop settings — business name, tax settings, language, receipt setup
- Products, prices, and stock
- Employees, cashier PINs, clock-in and clock-out records
- Transactions, shifts, and the daily and monthly sales totals rolled up from them
This data is not transmitted to SellMore. It stays on the device until you delete it, uninstall the app, or clear the browser's data. Detailed records are pruned automatically over time (transactions after about 60 days, attendance after about 3 months); the summarised totals are kept so reports still work.
3. Google Account data
Signing in with Google is optional. The register works without a Google Account. You sign in when you want SellMore to back up or export the shop's own records. When you do, SellMore requests these permissions and uses them only as described:

If you turn on Sheets export, SellMore also creates a spreadsheet inside that folder and writes daily and monthly totals into it. This permission only grants access to files SellMore itself created — the rest of your Drive, including your other spreadsheets, is not visible to SellMore. |
calendar.app.created | Used only if you turn on the shift summary. SellMore creates its own calendar, named "SellMore — Shift Reports", and adds an entry to it when a shift closes. This permission covers only calendars SellMore created; it gives no access to your personal calendars or their events. |
Access tokens issued by Google are held in your signed-in browser session so the app can write those backups and exports. SellMore does not store your Google password, and does not keep a copy of your Drive, Sheets, or Calendar content on its own servers.
Limited Use
SellMore's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: SellMore uses Google user data only to provide and improve the features described above; does not transfer that data to others except as necessary to provide those features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition; does not use it for advertising; does not sell it; and does not allow humans to read it except with your explicit consent, for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or where the data has been aggregated and anonymised.
Revoking access
You can remove SellMore's access to your Google Account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Backups already written to your Drive belong to you — delete them from Drive if you want them gone. Revoking access does not affect the shop data held on your device.
4. Data SellMore does receive
A small amount of data reaches Otter Co servers so that licences work and so we know an installation is alive:
- Device check-in. The app registers a device identifier and periodically sends a short ping containing that identifier, the app identifier, and the shop name. If the device grants location permission, the ping includes the device's coordinates; if it does not, the server may derive an approximate location from the network address. This is used to see where SellMore is in use and whether an installation is still active.
- Licence activation. When you activate or renew a licence, the activation code, the device identifier, and the merchant name and location you entered are sent to the licensing service to issue the licence.
No transactions, items, employees, customer details, or Google user data are included in either of these.
5. Optional third-party integrations
If you connect an accounting integration such as Accurate, the sales data you choose to send goes directly from your device to that provider under their terms and privacy policy. These integrations are off unless you turn them on.
6. What SellMore never does
- Sell or rent your data, or the shop's sales data, to anyone
- Use your data or Google user data for advertising or ad profiling
- Use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalised AI or ML models
- Store your shop's transactions on SellMore servers
7. Security
Data on the device is protected by the device itself and the browser's storage isolation — keep a screen lock on the device and use cashier PINs. Data in transit to Google and to our licensing service is sent over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small.
8. Children
SellMore is a tool for businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially we will update this page and the effective date above. Continuing to use SellMore after a change means you accept the updated policy.
